The Yamaha FG 9R at a glance

With the Yamaha FG 9M, the Japanese traditional manufacturer presents a high-quality dreadnought western guitar with the best premium features. The Japanese quality product comes with a solid Adirondack spruce top and a solid body made of mahogany, which provides excellent sound results. In addition, the innovative Scalloped-X bracing and an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish guarantee a free vibration behaviour that gives the sound a high assertiveness. The guitar is rounded off by an attractive design in the form of a Natural finish and visual highlights, as well as a well-padded case included in the scope of delivery.

Complex sound

With its solid tonewoods and voluminous dreadnought build, the Yamaha FG 9M produces a punchy sound with strong character. This is supported by the innovative Scalloped-X bracing and an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, which favour the vibration behaviour. The sound can thus unfold freely and unadulterated with even the lightest touch. The woods used here also demonstrate the high quality of the instrument and provide a star-quality tone. Thus, the mahogany back and sides provide a warm sound with concise mids and fast response, while the Adirondack spruce top contributes clear overtones that increasingly develop to perfection. It is not for nothing that this tonewood combination is an absolute classic, found in some of the best guitars.

Grippy mahogany neck

For a pleasant playing feel, the manufacturer relies here on a mahogany neck with an acceptable weight as well as a velvety ebony fingerboard, which allows an effortless gliding of the picking hand over all 20 frets. The bone nut with 44 mm width fulfills all requirements for powerful strumming and delicate Flatpicking. The ebony bridge with bone inlay, ebony bridge pins and robust, yet smooth-running Gotoh tuners ensure the necessary clean intonation with high tuning stability.

Visual highlights

The icing on the cake of the Yamaha FG 9M is undoubtedly its timeless design combined with sophisticated details. For example, the Natural Nitrocellulose finish skillfully highlights the fine grain of the woods and perfectly brings out the natural beauty of the material. Meanwhile, extraordinary details such as the Tortoise pickguard, Japanese Kumiki inlays, Rope bindings and the Wooden Rope pattern rosette that harmonizes with them provide the necessary individuality. They give the instrument the necessary unique features that make it a real one-of-a-kind.
