A top quality instrument for its price. The neck is super comfy and the balance is perfect. It is lighter than I was expecting considering the mahogany body but it still packs good tone. The EQ presets are very useful in a gigging situation and the pickups are well balanced. The main flaw of the instrument would be the slightly uncomfortable neck heel when playing higher up the neck and the switch could have been better placed
What a fantastic bass for the money! Feels really good whether you're holding it in your knee or on a strap, the tonal variations are virtually endless with two pick ups, blend control, tone controls and the all empowering 5 position eq toggle switch. The string spacing is just right allowing for smooth fast transition between the strings.
The battery compartment for the active electronics is easily accessible making for trouble free installation.
The paint finish is fantastic the deep gloss with metallic flick looks superb under stage lighting.
All in all a suburb bass which stands up for itself against basses costing 3 or 4 times as much!
This is a great 5 string bass with a quality build and great sound as you expect from Yamaha. But what really makes it is the price for such an instrument
Wow is all I can say, for an instrument that comes at an entry level price the fit and finish is perfect everything works as it should even sounds rather nice. I’ve owned many basses over the years and I can honestly say the neck on this has the nicest slab of rosewood I have ever seen on a bass very similar to ebony in look and feel. Keep up the good work Yamaha I’m a convert.
This is my very first bass. I am a completely bass starter. I played guitar before. However, it doesn't prevent me to give out my compliment to this product. It is a very beautiful piece of craftsmanship. the color is modern yet calm enough.
I really like the design in general. The pickup, numbs, string, body, fret are all combined smoothly in one instrument.
The preset eq is genius. They really produce different sounds.
Musicstore did a great service. The shipping is fast and the package is very solid.
I would recommend this bass to all starters (even immediate player I believe) for its sound and beauty.
