Mesa Boogie electric guitar head with eight impulse-response speaker simulations
With the Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 Head, the amp manufacturer from Petaluma, California, is expanding its legendary Rectifier series with a 50-watt tube head designed with modern voicing in mind – ideal for lower-tuned 7-string and 8-string guitars. With its aggressive midrange, tight bass and percussive attack, the redesigned preamp delivers notes with razor-sharp precision. Powered by a EL34 multi-watt power amplifier the Badlander produces an extra punch and presence that cuts through any mix. Two identically designed channels with three gain modes and intuitive EQ give you full control sound control. With the integrated CabClone IR DI box, which gives each channel access to eight Impulse speaker simulations, the Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 Head is also the perfect partner for home and silent recording.
With two identically constructed channels, the Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 Head delivers first-class metal sounds with modern voicing.
Two identical channels for flexible sounds
The preamp design of the Badlander is built around five 12AX7 tubes and uses two identical channels for intuitive and precise control over the guitar sound. With Clean, Crunch and Crush, each channel offers three basic gain modes for glassy Californian clean sound, creamy mid-gain drive or aggressive high-gain distortion. Each channel also has a 3-band tone stack and a presence control for precise adjustments of the guitar sound.
Multi-watt power amplifier with EL34 tubes and Variac mode
The Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 Head packs a punch with its 50-watt multi-watt power amplifier, powered by two EL34 tubes, delivering big stage-ready sound with plenty of presence. But it doesn't stop there — the multi-watt circuit gives you the flexibility to dial it down to 20 watts for smaller venues or a more manageable volume while still keeping all the punch and clarity. For those chasing that classic Brown sound, the Variac circuit steps in, lowering the voltage to the amp for a smooth, vintage-like response with natural compression. This gives you that sought-after warmth and saturation, while still providing plenty of modern versatility. Whether you're playing large stages or dialing it down for intimate gigs, the Badlander 50 has you covered for a wide range of tones and styles.
CabClone IR for silent recording with natural sound
Last but not least, the Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 comes loaded with the practical Mesa Boogie CabClone IR DI box for silent recording without speakers connected. Separate IR switches can be used to assign one of eight impulse response speaker simulations to each channel, so that guitar tracks are presented with a particularly natural sound. The USB port also allows 3rd party IRs to be loaded for optimum sound tuning.
The integrated CabClone IR DI box enables silent recording with the Mesa Boogie Badlander 50.
