The Nux Pedals NBP-5 Melvin Lee Davis Bass preamp was developed in close collaboration with the bassist and producer based in Orange County, California, whose virtuoso bass lines helped countless songs between jazz, R'n'B and soul to the necessary groove. Accordingly, the practical effect pedal turns out to be a flexible sound tool with straightforward operation and a contemporary equipment for stage and recording studio.
3-Band EQ, Overdrive, Clean Blend
In order to be able to adjust the bass sound particularly precisely, Nux Pedals equips the MLD BassPreamp with an active 3-band EQ, whose semi-parametric center band captures the frequency ranges that are particularly important for the sound character. The overdrive elicits a juicy grind for driving rock grooves from the BassPreamp if desired, with the intensity of the distortion being adjusted via the Drive control. and to obtain a well-defined tone with punch even in extreme EQ and Drive settings, the cleaninput signal can be mixed in continuously.
Amp Models and Impulse Responses
For the basic bass sound, the NBP-5 MLD Preamp from Nux offers three modelings of bass amplifiers with strong character, which can be selected via the free editor software. In addition, the pedal works with speaker simulations based on Impulse Responses (IRs), and the direct recording on stage or recording on the PC to get a particularly natural sound. In addition to the eight pre-installed IRs from the factory, the MLD Preamp provides eight additional memory locations for your own speaker simulations.
Extensive connectivity
Last but not least, the NBP-5 Melvin Lee Davis BassPreamp from Nux provides the necessary connections for use on stage and in the recording studio. While the through output sends the unprocessed input signal to a separate bass amp or a second signal chain, the output jack delivers the processed signal. The XLR output, which can be switched before or after the EQ by means of a pre/post switch, is furthermore suitable for forwarding the bass sound directly to a mixing console or audio interface. Separate mini switches can be used to activate the IR speaker simulation of the MLD BassPreamp separately for both Outputs of the pedal. A headphone jack and an aux-in jack complete the connections of the Nux Pedal NBP-5 Melvin Lee Davis Bass Preamp.
