The E-4 Voice Tweaker as part of Roland's AIRA Compact series is a very compact voice transformer based on the VT-4 with Looper and battery operation. The performance-oriented device offers all kinds of possibilities to bend your own voice, so that you can sound like Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader or Transformers or change the voice pitch between male/female and female/male at the touch of a button. For the final touch or even as the only effect for the voice, there is a reverb effect. The Scatter effect allows rhythmic chopping of the voice, which always happens in sync with Clock and ranges from doubling to glitch artifacts. Thanks to the looper with up to 24 seconds of recording time, you can sing with yourself in multiple voices and/or synchronize what you have recorded with a drum machine.
Battery operation & connections
The internal lithium-ion battery allows an operating time of about 3.5 hours and is charged via USB. The E-4 can also be connected to the DAW via USB and can even be used as an audio interface to integrate the vocals directly into the arrangement. With the Sync inputs and outputs, the E-4 can be synchronized to other devices of the AIRA Compact series, among others. Via MIDI you can connect the effect unit to other equipment using a separately available MIDI-TRS adapter. The mix input is useful for small setups and sneaks signals through to the output; MixOut is a combined line and headphone output.
