With the electronic drum kit TD-50K, Roland is showing us once again why the company is the market leader. The TD-50K is an impressive demonstration of what is possible in the e-drum sector today. New technologies such as Prismatic Sound Modeling and the completely renewed multi-sensor system for the snare make the Roland TD-50K the first choice when it comes to professional performance in the studio and on stage. In terms of playability, expressiveness and dynamics, the TD-50K sets new standards. The huge selection of editing options makes this e-drum set a professional tool that really meets every requirement. Exclusive extra: Music Store customers receive a free Simon Phillips soundpack on SD card with high quality drum samples, recorded by the ex-Toto drummer himself!
With the PD-140DS snare pad and the ride cymbal CY-18DR, Roland introduces two completely new components to the exclusive e-drum range. The 14-inch PD-140DS digital snare pad does not only look like an acoustic snare, it also plays like one. Thanks to the completely renewed multi-sensor system, it allows virtually any kind of playing technique. An extremely sensitive response and the enormous dynamic range give the snare pad an expressive power, which can hardly be distinguished from an acoustic snare drums.
The CY-18DR ride pad comes with similar quality, because the 18" cymbal pad offers high-resolution sound triggering of previously unknown quality. The pad can be played over the entire surface from the top to the edge and reacts with the corresponding sounds.
Roland did not only improve the hardware, the TD-50 sound module is next level as well. Prismatic Sound Modeling is the name of the new technology that allows even tiny details of every stroke to be detected and implemented accordingly. This creates a vivacity and dynamic range in a new quality that nobody would expect from an e-drum.
The TD-50 offers countless possibilities for editing of the drum sounds. A compressor and a 3-band EQ are available for each drum pad. 30 effects, controlled by 3 separate multi-FX processors make sure that things never get boring. In addition, the simulated acoustics may be altered, e.g. by repositioning the virtual overhead microphones. A useful extra is the snap shot function: different settings can be compared and evaluated by simply pushing a button.
The TD-50 sound module offers a more than decent selection of drum and percussion sounds from all styles. However, via SD cardit is also possible to simply trigger and play your own samples in WAV format. The connection to the computer and thus to the DAW is done in seconds, thanks to USB for example, to record in a multitrack process. Simply choose the sample rate (48, 96 or 44.1kHz) and you are ready to go. For connection to sound systems, the TD-50 has a stereo output in XLR format as well as eight balanced TRS direct outputs.
As an exclusive extra for Music Store customers, the TD-50 sound module comes with an extra sound pack on SD card with high quality drum samples, created and recorded by ex-Toto drummer Simon Phillips himself. The high-resolution samples offer tremendous dynamics and are not to be surpassed in sound quality and expressive power. With these features, the Simon Phillips samples are a great addition to the module's internal sounds, enriching the TD-50's sound offerings. In addition to the two Simon Phillips drum kits you will find two more kits on the SD card. This is a synth kit and a kit with drums from the 80s. There are also three songs on the SD card, which demonstrate the kits with original MIDI triggers from Simon Phillips.
The fifth drum kit on the included SD card is an exclusive sound package by Marco Minnemann, a German drummer, who now works as a musician in Los Angeles. Back in Europe Marco Minnemann played with Paul Gilbert, Udo Lindenberg, Paddy Kelly, Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman, Wolfgang Schmid, Kreator, Mike Keneally and Nena. In the USA, bands such as "The Aristocrats", tours with Steve Wilson and Joe Satriani, or the project "The Mute Gods" by Nick Beggs, the bass player and singer of the group "Kajagoogoo" followed.
