While an ash body and a six-fret bolt-on maple neck with a noble ebony fingerboard form the constructional basis of the VT4, the well-known Sandberg hardware in the form of Bridge 4 and lightweight Machine Heads completes the bass guitar's equipment.
Absolutely unique: The Sandberg California VT4 EB Black Satin is black from headstock to body and comes with aluminum pickguard and Black Label pickups.
The comfortably playable maple neck with silky Black Satin finish is six-bolted to the ash body.
Proven construction with high playing comfort
In the construction of the somberly styled California VT4 EB, Sandberg follows the proven specifications for a classic Bass with a crisp sound and excellent handling. In addition to the ash body, whose grain remains visible through the black satin finish, the four-stringer features a six-bolt maple neck with ebony fingerboard and a black, silky-grip finish. To make sure that every Bassline goes loose from the fingers, the neck also has a comfortable, flat C-profile with 39.5 mm nut width and a flat 14" fingerboard radius (356 mm).
Sandberg Black Label pickups in PJ configuration and the active 2-band EQ promise punchy bass sounds with detailed articulation.
Black Label Pickups
The electrical sound transformation of the California VT4 EB Black Satin is realized by a Sandberg Black Label single coil pickup at the bridge and a Sandberg Black Label split coil in the middle position. With them, the bass guitar elicits a broad spectrum of characterful bass sounds of modern character from the amplifier, ranging from the finely differentiated presence and assertiveness of the bridge pickup to the rich growling yet precisely articulated sound of the middle pickup. To be able to precisely adjust the sound character, Sandberg uses an in-house active electronics with bass and treble pots in addition to the blend pot for stepless mixing of the pickups. If desired, the push/pull switch in the volume control puts the Bass into the traditional passive mode, in which the treble control works as a classic treble fade.
Black Sandberg Machine Heads provide the headstock for precise and reliable tuning of the California VT4.
Black Sandberg hardware
Of course, high-quality SandbergHardware in a matching Black finish completes the California VT4 EB Black Satin #43574. The bridge used is the solidly built Sandberg Bridge 4, which supports the long-lasting Sustain and the lively sound character of the four-stringer. The three-dimensionally adjustable tailpieces allow not only the perfect adjustment of intonation and string action, but also the adjustment of the string spacing to one's own preferences. At the headstock, the zero fret and saddle guide the strings to the lightweight Sandberg Machine Heads, which not only guarantee reliable tuning, but also efficiently counteract unwanted neck dive.
