Apollo View Modular Manic - Module for audio and CV processing
With Manic, Apollo View Modular presents an almost eccentric module for audio and CV processing that can be used as a VCA, inverter, clipper or wavefolder for each channel. The module was developed in close collaboration with the well-known synth YouTuber Ben "DivKid" Wilson. The signals are processed as dual mono, mono to Stereo or as true stereo. Each channel offers precise, linear VCA functionality with traditional unipolar amplitude control or bipolar behavior for complex ring modulation effects. The special feature, however, lies in the post-VCA shape outputs. The Shape1 output offers TanH Soft clipping and wavefolding in the style of Serge, while Shape2 features hard clipping and a Buchla-style Wavefolder. The different topologies for the left and right channels allow for dynamic stereo widening effects that make the stereo image expansive and intriguing. Although the circuits are different, they have been optimized to be suitable for creating stereo images from mono sources as well as for working with stereo inputs to achieve a balanced but optimized stereo width. Manic is designed to handle both audio and CV signals and processes the incoming signals effortlessly for a wide range of applications.
