Raise the bar!
The Dangerous Music Convert-2 is a stereo DA converter of the reference class. It is the logical further development of the now legendary DAC-ST as well as its already further developed offshoots in D-Box+ and Source and raises the bar a bit higher again.
Transparency and Low-End
The Convert series was developed from scratch - without compromise. Knowledge gained from decades of experience combined with Dangerous Music's basic philosophy of "transparent, but musical" resulted in a truly special transducer: very detailed sound with a very defined, rich low end and unmatched clarity across the entire frequency spectrum.
How to use the trim pot?
Important feature: a volume pot for direct connection of loudspeakers, which is completely removed from the signal path by a relay when turned to the right. This is more suitable when using an external monitor controller like the Dangerous Music Monitor ST.
What does the USB uplink do?
A second important feature that is far too rare in DA-only converters is the bidirectional USB connection. USB can send signals in both directions (bidirectional): From the DAW to the converter and from the converter to the DAW. Normally, however, DA converters with USB only use one direction from the DAW to the converter. The USB Uplink takes advantage of this and offers the possibility to send the digital signal, which is present at the AES/SPDIF-2 input, back to the DAW via USB. This feature is especially interesting for hybrid studios that want to use both analog outboard equipment and plug-ins in mixing and mastering. The processed analog signal can be converted to AES/SPDIF format via a converter, then sent to the DAW via the USB uplink, where it can be further processed with plug-ins. Using the input source selection buttons on the front of the Convert-2, analog processing and the sound with plug-ins can then be monitored in an A/B comparison, and the precise level meter can be used to read the level before and after plug-in processing.
