A calibrated Set of hand-wound Tomatillo and Poblano single coils, together with the "Fat '50s Wiring" and the smart ½-blender circuit of the neck pickup, provide extremely diverse guitar tones that make the Tomatillo Strat an all-rounder for mild cleans and sharp Overdrive. Besides the alder body in Contour Body design, the Tomatillo Strat features a bolt-on neck in the comfortable "11/56 Off-Center V" profile.

As a basis for the Tomatillo Strat, the FenderCustom chooses the proven Fifties Stratocaster with one-piece maple neck, which combines classic sound characteristics with comfortable handling. Due to the particularly pronounced Contour body shaping, the two-piece body made of carefully selected alder wood lies with ideal balance on the body. The neck is made of especially stable Rift Sawn Maple. With the asymmetrical "11/56 Off-Center V" profile and the Vintage Compound Radius (184 mm to 241 mm) rising from 7.25" to 9.5", it offers the best conditions for implementing classical and modern playing techniques.

The electrical sound transformation of the Tomatillo Strat is handled by a perfectly matched single coil Set of two Tomatillo and one Poblano pickup, which elicits a wide range of sounds from the guitar amplifier. While the mild tonal character of the Hand-Wound Tomatillo Single Coils in Neck and Middle positions is best suited for soulful cleans and singing Overdrive, the hot-wound Hand-Wound Poblano Bridge Pickup promises sharp tones for characterful and assertive riffs and solos. The reverse-wound and polarized midrange pickup, compared to the rest of the pickups, eliminates unwanted ambient noise in the intermediate positions of the 5-way switch. As a smart highlight of the Tomatillo Strat also turns out the ½-Blender circuit, which mixes the neck pickup in the switch positions 1 and 2 continuously, and the otherwise unattainable combination of all three pickups or the neck and bridge pickups to realize.
