The Friedman No More Tears Gold-72 Wah is a Wah pedal that can be applied to almost any rig, with additional functions. Built in the classic Cry Baby style, the Wah features a 3-way toe-to-toe footswitch that offers 3x different sweep ranges; from the popular vintage model to a wide modern sweep to a narrow frequency range for vocal sounds. A great trick with this Wah is to use it as a filter effect with longer pedal chains, boosting or cutting frequencies on the fly. The No More Tears Gold-72 Wah also includes a switchable internal buffer to keep the signal clear and powerful all the way through to the amp.
The main features of the Friedman No More Tears Gold-72 Wah include:
This is a great wah with three very distinct settings all at the flick of a switch and a rock-solid build.
The sweep in all settings is very satisfying, clean or dirty. The operation of the pedal has just the right level of resistance and feels good underfoot. The on/off button requires a good amount of pressure, so there is no danger of accidentally switching on or off. The bright LED is a very useful feature.
All in all, a great pedal that I would 100% recommend.
I was looking for a way pedal which would work well with heavy, distorted sound. I watched many reviews of this Freedman Wah on YouTube and it looks like it handles heavy guitar sound good enough.
First, about pro's of this pedal:
1. The pedal housed in a very sturdy casing which will most probably last for a while.
2. The sound is fantastic both on clean and overdriven sounds.
3. The pedal is very versatile, with different voicing options accessible with simple switch toggle.
Now to the less nice part.
1. The pedal is very noisy mechanically. While moving the pedal up and down you can hear very loud crunching sound of the inner mechanism.
2. The on/off switch seems to be too high. When operating the pedal, theta plate contacts the switch and again, makes very loud clicking sound. It does not turn the pedal off, but still you can't avoid touching it. Serious design flaw.
3. With the voicing switch in the back position the pedal makes very loud sweeping noise even when the guitar is completely muted. I even tried to unplug the cable from the pedal, the noise was still there.
As much as I loved the sound of this Freedman wah, these flaws made it almost impossible to use. Too bad. I hope Friedman makes a revision of this pedal and will correct the mentioned shortcomings.
