As a tribute to the legendary design of the Les Paul of the year 1959, the Gibson Custom Shop offers in cooperation with the aging specialists of the Murphy Lab an extremely successful recreation of the archetype. From the turned wood selection to the hand-wired electronics to the texture of Finish and Hardware, the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Cherry Tea Burst Light Aged really does offer everything a classic '59 Les Paul should.
Flamed maple top and mahogany neck with long neck base
The basis of the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Cherry Tea Burst Light Aged is its basic construction of selected tonewoods, as they were already used in the late fifties. Accordingly, the body is made of a solid piece of mahogany and finished with a two-piece flamed maple top with a fancy flame. Of course in the recipe of a good Fifties Les Paul the up to under the neck pickup glued Long Neck Tenon of the mahogany neck is not missing.
Gibson Custom Bucker with Paper-in-Oil Caps
For appropriate sounds of the legendary PAF humbuckers Gibson uses two Custom Bucker Humbuckers, which are successful replicas of the sought-after double coils. Hand-wound at Gibson Custom Shop, the pickups are fitted with Alnico III magnets for a warm and vocal tone character and feature non-waxed coils, clearly preserving the treble content in the signal. The electronics wiring is also completely hand-wired and holds original components of the golden LP era with CTS potentiometers for volume and tone and oil-paper capacitors.
Murphy Lab Light Aged Treatment
The Murphy Lab, founded by aging legend Tom Murphy, consists of a number of experts who analyze in detail the varnish texture and aging process of the Hardware original instruments and authentically recreate them in the 1959 Les Paul Standard Cherry Tea Burst Light Aged. The Light Aged Treatment represents a slight aging process and simulates the natural wear and tear of a long played but well cared for instrument. The composition of the nitro varnish was also taken into account, so that the instrument develops a tasteful aging over time.
