The Golden Age Pre 573 is a 500 series Neve style preamp for the lunchbox format, based on a vintage neve 1073 circuit. For an extremely affordable price you can now have the classic, harmonically rich sound heard on countless records over the years whether in the professional or bedroom studio.
The PRE-573 features a whopping 80dB of gain, enough to power low output ribbons and dynamics, as well as a DI connection on the front of the unit for connecting a guitar or bass directly into your DAW. The input impedance can also be switched, making it a better match to condenser mics or dynamic mics – but you can also use this to ‘voice’ the preamp and coax a slightly different tone out of it. Phantom power and phase reversal switches are also included on the front panel.
The ‘Air’ switch adds a frequency boost above 10kHz to add brightness and presence to acoustic and electric instruments.
