Moog Mavis

A big workshop-01 or a small Mother-32?

The Mavis from Moog is a very compact, semi-modular analog synthesizer with the famous fat Moog sound. First of all, you have to assemble the instrument yourself, which is done in a few minutes with a screwdriver and does not require any deep technical knowledge or even soldering. The pure analog sound generation is composed of an oscillator with variable waveform (sawtooth to square) including PWM, a 24 dB Lowpass filter and a VCA with drone mode. Filter, VCO and VCA can be modulated separately, for this an LFO with variable waveform (triangle to square) and an ADSR envelope are available. That's all it takes to reproduce the massive Moog sound in its simplest form.

Semi-modular freedoms!

On the left side of the control panel there are a total of 24 patch jacks, which are compatible to voltages and levels of Eurorack modules. Here you can find inputs and outputs for gate, control voltages and audio signals, which can be used to change the signal path and modulation possibilities of Mavis to a large extent. This can also be used to control the Mavis synthesizer from other equipment, also because no MIDI is implemented. For jamming, a mini keyboard with 13 notes is built in. The for Moog new Wavefolder is also accessible via the patch field. The wavefolder is able to form a metallic sound with organic character from a triangle or sine waveform. Also newly added is a patchable sample & hold function that can be used to achieve a variety of random sounds and modulations. Or simply add small variables to otherwise static sounds. If you prefer to use all these functions directly in your Eurorack system, simply remove Mavis from its case and place it in a Eurorack enclosure, where it will take up 44TE of space.
