Tube amp with "Authentic Hendrix Touring Circuit
With the PRS HDRX 100, Paul Reed Smith and amp designer Doug Sewell present a top-class tube amp for electric guitar, which was created after intensive analysis of Jimi Hendrix's personal tour amp from the Woodstock era. Built entirely analog and with carefully matched components, the "Authentic Hendrix Touring Circuit" reproduces the unmistakably dynamic and brilliant sound of a British amp with bridged channels more authentically than any other and is accordingly perfect for classic styles between Blues and rock.
The straightforward front panel of the PRS HDRX 100 top features volume controls for the internally bridged channels, a classic tone stack and a presence control.
Analog circuit with best components
For the construction of the "Authentic Hendrix Touring Circuit" PRS relies exclusively on carefully selected components of the highest quality to achieve a direct and particularly detailed sound image that lets every played note shine without appearing harsh or biting. Accordingly, three selected JJ ECC803S tubes are used in the preamp of the tube amplifier, while four New Sensor EL34 tubes and custom-designed straight edge output transformers promise powerful sounds of British coloration in the 100-watt power amplifier.
Bridged channels
Like the original from the Woodstock era, the PRS HDRX 100 has separate treble and bass channels, but they are already bridged at the factory. Using the treble and bass volume controls, they can be smoothly mixed to deliver a wide range of sounds from brilliant cleans to juicy Overdrive with a well-dosed bite. In addition to the three-position Bright switch for the Treble channel, the HDRX 100 amplifier from PRS has a classic tone stack, a "High-Mid Gain" switch and a Presence control for adjusting the tone color.
On the back of the PRS HDRX 100 are the speaker connections and BIAS measurement points.
