Redshift 6 - Six voice analog Variable Character Synthesizer
The Supercritical Synthesizers Redshift 6 at a glance
The Redshift 6 from Supercritical Synthesizers is a polyphonic analogue synthesizer with an extremely variable character. The absolutely futuristic-looking synthesizer is particularly impressive due to two aspects that give it a unique selling point on the market. Firstly, there is the analog signal path, which is essentially based on the earlier products Demon Core Oscillatorthe Neutron Flux Filter and one VCA per voice. The second aspect relates to the voice architecture of the Redshift 6. As the name suggests, the synth is 6-voice polyphonic, but also 6-part multitimbral. The individual voices can be chained in different ways, including 6x monophonic, 6-voice polyphonic, 2x 3 voices or 3x 2 voices. Furthermore, the parts can be combined in such a way that the oscillator of part 1 is processed in parallel with the filters of parts 1 and 2. Operation is as simple as possible and benefits from direct access via the function buttons and the Display together with the surrounding control elements. There is also a macro mode that can be assigned to six parameters per Patch. Musically, the Redshift 6 covers pretty much everything you could possibly need. Basses in every conceivable variation, chords, super-fat rave and peak-time sounds, radiant pads, elaborately modulated sounds, atonal sounds and even percussive sounds can be created effortlessly with this synthesizer. A stereo effects processor is also on board, which is connected to the main Out and generates FX classics such as reverb and a synchronizable delay. Conveniences such as a complete MIDI implementation and MPE MIDI round off the range of functions nicely.
With the power of 96 oscillators
Each of the six voices/parts consists mainly of a Demon Core Oscillator and a Neutron Flux Filter. The oscillator is capable of producing classic sounds with 1-2 oscillators, but also easily creates supersaw, flanging phase sync and transistor organ sounds, with up to 16-fold paraphony! The analogue filter is also a true state variable filter that can fade continuously from Lowpass to Bandpass to Highpass, with a slope of 1-4 poles (6-24dB) and can also be faded in character (fat, mean, sour, liquid, crisp). The drive function is much more than simply overdriving the input stage; depending on the character and filter type, the gain staging changes in detail. The last element in the analog signal path is a VCA with the usual functionality. The modulation options draw on the full range: with three envelopes, four LFOs, a modulation matrix and several shortcuts, you have enough options at hand to animate almost any parameter. On top of that, an arpeggiator and a step sequencer are implemented so that you can work independently with the Redshift 6. At this point it must be mentioned again: all this is available six times!
