The WMD Synchrodyne Expander expands the main module with a second oscillator, an additional filter and a pre-filter compressor. According to WMD, they went a bit crazy with this expander. They thought that once they had understood the Synchrodyne, they would want to delve even deeper into the rather unique possibilities of sound shaping. The Synchrodyne itself can already do a lot, as it has several internally coordinated modules (functions) that create a wide range of sounds. Ultimately, with a minimum of patching, the Synchrodyne and expander have succeeded in eliciting sounds that sound extremely dynamic, but remain open and experimental even when using many patch points. The open architecture allows the module to be used for several individual tasks. It is simply crazy what sounds the expander helps the Synchrodyne to produce. Wacky, atonal sounds are the speciality of this combo. If you appreciate machine-like chopping, weird hardsync sounds, peculiar filtering far removed from any Moog or Roland tradition and controllable chaos, then the Synchrodyne with Expander is your new analogue dream team.
