The SE Electronics BL8 is a boundary microphone with the same small diaphragm capsule that is built into the popular sE8 condenser microphone. Thanks to its acoustic design, the BL8 also allows you to record very low frequencies with high precision, making it ideal for recording kick drums. The transformerless Class A circuitry gives the Mikforon plenty of headroom without distortion. The cardioid polar pattern of the BL8 can be distinguished between three switchable stages. Thus, there is a switch on the rear panel that can be used to select the characteristic between "classic", "neutral-flat" and "modern". Modern" lowers the mids and 15dB and "classic" and 10dB. The switches for low-cut and att pad are also located on the back of the microphone and are used to counteract overload of the mixing console, microphone amplifier or audio interfaces. Low-frequency signal components can be removed at either 80 or 160 Hz via the Low Cut switch. An attenuation can be set via Att Pad, which reduces the signal of the microphone and 10 or 20dB. The BL8 is constructed of sturdy metal, making it suitable for stage use. In addition, it can be mounted with two screws, which are not included, on flat surfaces such as walls, but also on the grand piano.
