Behringer brings the famous sounds of the Roland TR-808 back with the Behringer RD-8 Rhythm Designer and expands the classic with effective features. Launched in 1981, Roland 's TR-808 wrote music history like no other Drumcomputer . Whether Electro, House or HipHop, the sound of an 808 has had its place in the music world since the 80s!
Now the striking, puristic sound is available again and has lost nothing of its authenticity. Behringer has paid special attention to the fact that all sounds are reproduced exactly. We think this has definitely succeeded! A total of 16 instruments are distributed over the 11 available tracks, which can be adjusted in volume and partly in further parameters. It Sequenzer has 256 patterns for own beats, which can be up to 64 steps long. Even uneven steps can be individually programmed for each track. There is also Microtiming, Swing /Shuffle and Flam!
The main output has two special features: a switchable lowpass/highpass filter with manually adjustable cutoff and resonance, and the Wave designer; a compressor-like effect that handles the settling and decay times. Depending on the setting, the signal is either spongy or slightly denominated.
Just remember that this quick review is subjective so go listen to this thing in a shop if you can.
All I can say from my own view of wanting an original TR-808 and making do with samples and now Roland's own remakes(TR-08 and TR8s) and I also have a pure analog Acidlab MIAMI( that is brilliant sound wise and almost made me not buy an RD-8) that the Behringer RD-8 is absolutely awesome and has now totally fulfilled my original TR-808 gear lust. Can't go wrong at 299.
Well im blown away to be honest...been out of the music making loop for thirty plus years due to kids and life. I decided to dip my toe back in and wow what an eye opener..after a week of review reading about different boxes i dedided.on the rd 8...i knew i was in for a treat when i opened the box...as it looks awesome.....i could go for hours about the sounds...the cleaver little tricks it does...the ease of use once u have finished your 'smile enduced play around'...but i would bore you...you NEED to hear it for your self...this is a reborn classic...and a MUST have!!!!
(Review.buy.enjoy!!)
This is my first drum machine and having only just received it I must admit that I am already impressed with its capabilities. The build quality is good and should withstand a few knocks. If there was one issue that would be the size, it is big, however that gives space to play live without hitting the wrong button. I would have liked to see a few demo patterns included with the machine, but overall I'm happy.
