The MFB 301 Pro is a compact eight-part drum computer with analog sounds that can also be used as a MIDI expander. The Pro version is an improved and extended reissue of the 1980 classic 301. In addition to the level, each instrument (Bass, Snare, Clap, Tom, Bongo, Clave, Cymbal & Hihat) has two to three additional parameters that can be programmed in the Pattern for each step.
The 301 Pro is also an ideal complement to the MFB Tanzmaus. Together, both devices contain all the sounds of Tanzbär 1 from the same source. The 301 Pro can even be programmed and operated by the dance mouse via MIDI. In addition to the USB input for the power supply and data connection to the computer, there is an analogue sync-in socket (e.g. for Teenage Engineering PO series), MIDI input, headphone output and mainout.
Good sounding module and a great expansion to my other drum modules. Build quality isn't as good as other mfb products. Buttons feel a bit flimsy. But for the price I dont feel it's worth it. Takes some learning but again, a lot of functionality inside a small case!
There is a lot of sound here for this price. I bought it basically for the Toms and I wasn't disappointed. Great for techno bass lines.
You need to be comfortable with midi CC to get the most out of this machine.
In the box there is only a German manual. The English manual is on the MFB website.
The build quality is not high but I guess that's how they manage to get the price down to this point.
You need to tinker around quite a bit with this thing. You need to read the manual to learn all of the button combos. it's quite different, I guess that's how they manage to get the price down to this point.
No complaints from me, it's the sound that matters. Nice powerful analog percussion. Worth buying before they stop making it.
