The surface oft he hand carved shells are reminiscent of water spots, which are caused by drying in sunlight. With this blunt texture it is very easy to clamp it between your knees and play. The hand selected goat-skin heads are stretched by a traditional Mali system, the cords are made from nylon and are pre-stretched.
