The PRS Custom 24 is the flagship of the PRS line-up and will undergo both sound and visual upgrades with the 2017 SE version. In addition to the strikingly grained two-piece curly maple top and the classic Bird Abalone inlays, the Custom 24 now also has Paul's full signature on the headstock, while the model designation has given way to the cover of the neck brace. Designed for the company's 30th birthday, the PRS 85/15 S humbuckers provide sufficient tonal range from clear clean tone to high gain sounds.
Wide Thin Maple Neck & 85/15 S Humbucker
The Wide Thin Profile maple neck combines the classic handling of PRS instruments with the advantages of slim necks. Accordingly, the thin profile is suitable for fast runs and lead guitarists without denying the distinctive PRS pattern. Thanks to the 24-flush rosewood fretboard, the player has the range of two octaves on each string at his disposal, which gives straight riff writers and shredders more freedom for running and layer play.
The PRS 85/15 S humbucker setup of the Custom 24 stands for enormous flexibility from clear cleans to the juicy brown sound, with pickups wound according to original pickups from 1985 combining the decades of experience of the PRS R&D team and offering clear and balanced sounds in all possible circuits. The push/pull tone control allows both pickups to be switched to single coil operation for clear and defined coil tap sounds.
