Thorens - TD 1500, walnut high gloss at a glance
The Thorens TD 1500 has a sub-chassis that decouples the platter and tonearm board from the motor and plinth by means of three conical springs. In contrast to the TD 150, these springs are adjustable from above through corresponding holes in the turntable, which facilitates correct adjustment. The speed of the DC motor is electronically monitored by an incremental encoder and any deviations, e.g. caused by a broom, are automatically corrected. This enables very good synchronization values. As a real unique selling point in its class, the TD 1500 has XLR outputs in addition to the usual pair of RCA sockets, thus enabling true balanced operation with a suitable MC cartridge. The TP 150 tonearm has an effective mass of 14 grams, is adjustable in height and azimuth, and is equipped with a standard SME connection, so that nothing stands in the way of changing the headshell or equipping it with a different cartridge. The anti-skating is adjusted by a sliding weight in the base of the arm, which is adjusted on a nylon thread guided over a ruby bearing.
