The Vintage Icon V62MRAB Distressed Ash Blonde awakens the look of an electric guitar that has been rocked over decades with its trendy Relic finish. Vintage relies on the traditional T-style construction with an alder body and screwed maple neck, whose "Soft C" profile ensures unimpeded playability. The Wilkinson Single Coil Pickups also guarantee an authentic Twang sound with enormous assertiveness. Last but not least, the Vintage Icon V62MRAB Distressed Ash Blonde has a Wilkinson WTB bridge with precise Wilkinson Deluxe WJ55S tuners.
I puchased this guitar after reading lots of excellent reviews elswhere. The relicing although not to everyones taste is well done ( given this price point) and the guitar is well screwed togther. The sound pretty much nails 50's tele and the Wilkinson pups are quite and responsive. The product was delieved quickly and securley packaged. The only let down was the poor / lack of set-up. The action was so high as to be almost unplayable and the fret board is sticky in places. Ok I was able to pretty much sort this myself and a visit to my set up guy will no doubt make it spot on. However there was a checksheet in the box that said the guitar had been checked for playability. I not believe that this was the case.
This is a superb, lightweight, good looking T style guitar. The pickups are darker than I expected, but they are dynamic and clean up very nicely. The neck is a really nice feeling, satin medium D shape and the fret edges are rolled very comfortably, however the nut was a little sharp at the edges.
The relic job is very nicely done for such a cheap guitar and the fretboard and back of the neck look particularly good. The tuners are, in my opinion, way overdone though especially when compared to the other metal surfaces. Not a big problem just personal taste.
It plays really nicely and was setup well out of the box. I owned a vintage LP style guitar about 15 years ago and the quality has improved massively in that time. This is a great guitar for the price.
