Instrument 1 by Artiphon is a USB- Controller , which is specialized in playing techniques of string and plucked instruments. The new Controller type of guitar communicates via USB with any common DAW and is primarily suitable for playing any software synth, but especially for string and plucked instruments such as guitar and bass. Via App running on iOS, OS X and Windows that can be configured Instrument 1 for new tasks. Of course there is also internal memory for a selection of different operating modes, including Fretted, Fretless, Grid (72 notes), Pad (12 pads + 6 triggers), Strum, Tap, Slide, Bow and iBow.
The build quality is great. The Artiphon app makes the controller very flexible and configurable, and it's easy to set up with MPE-capable VST synths. Standard MIDI controllers seem very flat in comparison now that I'm used to this.
I am a guitar player first and the idea of being able to play my synths etc the way I play guitar, is highly attractive to me as I'm not amazing on the keys.
This does not play like a guitar beyond the layout. If it cost £100-£150 I may of kept it, but for £327 it is extremely overpriced.
There's a few people on YouTube who seem to enjoy using it, but for me it just doesn't allow me to play it without all sorts of problems

(This review is from the same product in color White)
I ordered my instrument 1 back in April and had to wait u til December for the delivery but DV247 kept me updated regarding the production delays. The product arrived very well protected / packaged however DV247 had sent a white unit and I had ordered a black one because I was concerned about the white getting discoloured over time. DV247 processed the return quickly and, within about 2 weeks, I had the correct unit delivered. I am still trying to get to grips with the device as it is a completely new experience for me but I am looking forward to experimenting and creating new sounds with my “new best friend”.
