The Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra is based on the double overdrive circuit designed together with Karnivool bassist Jon Stockman and packs it into the ultimate bass preamp for stage and recording studio. Accordingly, the Alpha and Omega baptized distortion characters are available, which are supplemented by a 6-band graphic equalizer for precise adjustment of the sound image. In addition, a balanced DI output and a headphone connection with switchable impulse response speaker simulation are available.
Alpha & Omega Distortion
Central to the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra bass pre-amp are undoubtedly the 2xeponymous distortion circuits, which have individual characters and can be continuously mixed using the Mod control. Alpha delivers a tight bass overdrive with focused definition, while Omega takes the signal with uninhibited distortion and delivers a brutal sound. The drive control determines the general degree of distortion, while the clean signal can be mixed in via the blend control.
6-Band EQ with Growl & Bit Switch
To further adjust the sound image, the Darkglass Alpha Omega is equipped with a graphic 6-band equalizer, which allows particularly precise adjustment to the character-forming frequency ranges. Bass and treble offer 12 dB boost or cut, while the four mid-bands can be raised or lowered by 10 dB each. The well-known growl and bit switches can also be used to emphasise bass and treble.
The Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra is also equipped with a balanced DI output for easy removal of the bass signal on stage or in the recording studio, via which the signal can be passed on to mixing consoles or recording devices. A switchable loudspeaker simulation based on impulse responses is available, which promises a particularly natural sound character. The impulse responses can be easily changed via the USB connection.
The main features of the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra include:
