The Fender American Performer Stratocaster HSS MN (Black) offers the combination of hot humbucker sounds with sparkling Strat tones. Manufactured in Corona, California, this instrument consists of an Alder body with a 4-piece screwed Maple neck in a “Modern-C” profile for contemporary playing techniques, and features pick-ups designed specifically for the American Performer series. 2x Yosemite single coils are used in the neck and middle position, the coils of which are coated with shellac to prevent unwanted microphonics. In the bridge position, the DoubleTap humbucker delivers powerful rock and metal sounds as well as clear single coil sounds thanks to a push/pull coil split function on the tone control.

I had read many reviews about this guitar and finally took the chance and bought one. I have to say, it is extremely versatile with the humbucker with the split coil. That along with the single coils with the greasebucket circuit can give you tones anywhere from classic Stratocaster quack to classic rock / blues to knarly heavy metal.
The build quality, finish and overall set up are excellent. I only needed to adjust the tension of the bridge and string height to get amazing action on the guitar. It plays very easily and the neck is comfortable in the hand.
I would say you can't go wrong with one of these. An American made Strat for a relatively low price. Can't be beat! Highly recommended!! I'm super happy with mine.
