As part of the Gibson Artist Collection, the Luthiers des Gibson Custom Shop Lucille not only with all the features for King's signature Signature sound, but also with a number of fine appointments that make the semi-acoustic guitar an absolute collector's item and elegant companion for stage and Studio. Traditionally built Semi Hollow guitar
In the construction of the B.B. King Lucille Legacy Semi-Hollow guitar the Gibson Custom Shop naturally follows traditional specifications and uses three-ply maple-poplar laminate for the top, back and sides , with the top layer being made of elegant cur ly maple. To reliably prevent feedback at high volumes, the body is not only stabilized by a solid maple center block, but the top is also made without sound holes. The mahogany neck, set into the body with a long neck root, offers comfortable playing characteristics with its pleasantly slim "slim taper" profile, so that every lick comes out of the fingers on the ebony fingerboard as if by magic.
Gibson Custombuckers and the hand-wired Vari-Tone circuit promise lively blues sounds.
Custombucker and Varitone circuit
The electrical tone conversion of the B.B. King Lucille is done by Gibson Custombuckers in neck and bridge position. As legitimate descendants of the legendary PAF humbuckers of the Fifties, the Alnico pickups convince with a particularly warm vintage sound that skillfully combines the timbre of the semi-acoustic guitar with airy dynamics and creates the perfect basis for the traditional tones of the Blues. Naturally, Gibson equips the Lucille Legacy with the six-position Varitone switch, which is a key component of B.B. King's unique tone. In addition to true bypass in position 1, the rotary switch provides five notch filters that remove different frequencies to help shape characterful guitar tones. For pickup control, a traditional hand-wired circuit with "Bumblebee" oil paper capacitors is also provided for extra harmonic TrebleRoll offs.
Gold-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners quickly and precisely tune the B.B. King Lucille Legacy to the correct pitch.
