The Red Hill MEC-01 Nylon Electro-Acoustic (Natural) is a 6-string electro-acoustic solid body Nylon-strung Guitar, with a Spruce top on a Mahogany body. The body has no sound-hole, meaning this instrument is very resistant to feedback in live situations, even at higher volumes.
The Redhill MEC-01 can be treated as a Silent Guitar when used in conjunction with a headphone pre-amplifier. Consequently, practicing is possible at any time of the day or night without disturbing others. The slightly curved Micarta fingerboard and the slim saddle width of 48mm ensure easy and comfortable playability, while the chrome die-cast mechanics keep the tuning stable.
The Met-A06 pre-amp has a 3-band equalizer, a volume control and a phase switch for individual sound adjustment. An integrated tuner means this electro-acoustic can be tuned anywhere and anytime, whilst the cutaway also allows comfortable play in the higher registers. Pearloid Star inlays on the fingerboard provide a beautiful finish to the fingerboard of this Guitar.
The main features of the Red Hill MEC-01 Nylon Electro-Acoustic (Natural) include:
For the last thirty years, there has been no TC style Electric Nylon string guitar available on the commercial retail market at all, let alone at this price point. I'd be lying if I said it was perfect, but then again from the onset, I was not expecting it to be perfect. Not even expensive are. That said, I was actually surprised at the almost flawless finish and construction which in fact exceeded my expectations. The MET-A06 preamp isn't great sounding but can be easily replaced with a better substitute. Similar for the plastic nut and saddle which can be replaced with bone ones, but these are observations rather than complaints as it does not necessarily ruin the quality of the instrument, especially if you've bought it for everyday use or practising and are not too concerned about tone quality or harder wearing nut and saddle.
The service, price and shipping of the product is great.
Most comfortable guitar I have ever owned. It looks also pretty good for a price. Neck was misaligned with a bridge, but inserting bits of carton between neck and body and tightening screws fixed that. Neck itself is pretty good. Sound via pickup is meh at best - maybe different set of strings will improve that? dv247 packing was top class. I will probably buy another one for my DIY projects. Very pleased with my purchase.
Well-built, good-looking guitar. Great if you want to play an nylon-string acoustic guitar without annoying the neighbours etc. Built-in tuner & pre-amp, sounds nice. Arrived quickly & I received regular updates from the courier. Recommended.
