Rossum Electro-Music's Panharmonium is an effects module that analyzes the spectral content of each incoming audio signal to operate an oscillator bank of up to 33 voices. From the single oscillator wave to drum tracks to the complete mix including vocals, the Panharmonium tracks down every little detail and modifies it with vibrant sound clusters, embedded arpeggios, drones and harmonic tapestries. A constant interaction between the audio material and the controls promises new and sometimes unheard results.
Through the numerous CV inputs, the module comes to life and opens up for complete. Even clock-synchronous changes are planned. If you include other modules such as an envelope follower and BPM-synchronous LFOs, it becomes really exciting. Using the Freeze button, to which twelve memory locations are subordinated, a very short moment of the incoming audio signal can be captured. This forms the basis for a new basic tone, which can be changed using the knob. On twelve further memory locations, any settings of the Panharmonium can be recorded and recalled.
This is my first ever eurorack module. I was blown away watching a video i decided to take the leap into thr eurorack world. This unit is capable of many different applications and producing many different sounds although I'm using it as a sound effect at the moment until I get some more gear. This will probably cost me my marriage but you got to prioritise haven't you.
From bad Windows Media Player sounds to Octave generation - and beyond!
Have had a lot of fun with this machine already. Responds so well to CV. It could be seen as the ultimate instrument to synth Audio Effect. Also pushes experiments to brand new Sonic Levels.
This module stands pretty much on its own, within Eurorack, with regards to what it can do. I found the best approach was was hook it up and play. This resulted in unexpected sounds and atmospheric drones.
As with other Rossum modules a read of the manual is advised in order to got an idea of what is going on but experimentation is the key.
An excellent module.
