The SE2300 from SE Electronics is an affordable and high quality multi-pattern large diaphragm condenser microphone in studio quality, which not only scores with practical features such as pad and filter, but also with an included microphone spider and pop protection. Heart of course is the handmade capsule, with which any recordings on professional level can be realized. Discreet components that create a classic Class-A design also provide brilliant sound quality, consistent performance with low background noise and high sensitivity. Not to mention a custom output transformer that delivers incredible depth and pressure.
Three different patterns are available to the user, which can be selected via the switch on the back. These are a simple cardioid characteristic, an eight and the omnidirectional. Thus not only simple vocal recordings can be realized, but also dialogues/duets between two opposite persons, Atmos and more. If you have a second microphone, you can use the eight and the cardioid to perform interesting mid/side stereo microphone techniques.
For those who often work with hot signals, the pad switch on the left comes in handy. This can be switched to -10 and -20dB, so guitarists, brass players and drummers can also benefit. Selectable lowcuts, which can be switched between 80Hz or 160Hz, prevent the proximity effect, but also impact sound and other interference frequencies in the lower spectrum.
In terms of the housing, inexpensive microphones often make compromises. However, the sE 2300 comes in a fully metal chassis for efficient rejection of electronic interference and noise. And the high-quality finish guarantees a great look for years to come.
The SE 2300 also comes with an Isolation Pack, which consists of a microphone spider and a pop screen. The spider provides an optimal suspension for the microphone to attenuate any unwanted vibrations that reach the microphone. A simple quick mechanism makes it easy to insert and remove the microphone - no screws, no stress, just twist and go! S- and hiss sounds are dampened by the metal pop protection so that clean recordings are produced. If necessary, it can of course also be removed.
