Compact basswood body meets maple neck
For the construction of the EVH Wolfgang Special, Eddie van Halen relies on proven ingredients for a rock guitar and has the body made of basswood, while the bolt-on neck is made of maple with annual rings and carries an ebony fretboard. The combination of the compact, boldly designed body, the comfortable neck profile and the compound radius of the fretboard, which increases from 12" to 16", gives the EVH Wolfgang a comfortable handling that makes every solo, no matter how tricky, easy to play.
Wolfgang humbucker and special pots
The electric tone conversion of the EVH Wolfang EB Pelham Green is handled by two EVH Wolfgang humbuckers developed by Eddie van Halen himself. With their hot Output and balanced output across all frequencies, these pickups deliver a fat rock sound that makes every solo sing with endless Sustain, while the precise attack and perfect string separation ensure a tight rhythm sound. The pickups are controlled via a 3-way toggle switch as well as general volume and tone controls, which have different rotary resistors. The particularly smooth-running volume pot enables violin-like sound fades, while the slower-running tone pot is immune to unwanted adjustments.
Floyd Rose with EVH D-Tuna
In addition, the EVH Wolfgang Special is equipped with a Floyd Rose tremolo, which ensures perfect tuning stability even with the most aggressive dive bombs and squeals. The EVH D-Tuna on the low E-string enables lightning-fast tuning changes to drop tunings without the Vibrato having to be laboriously adjusted. The characteristic headstock features furthermore precise die-cast tuners.
