Description

Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster with Reversed Headstock and three Fender American Vintage Gray Bottom Singlecoils

The Fender Jimi Hendrix Strat Black: Moulded by greatness.

Hendrix helped popularise the Stratocaster and helped it become the guitar we all know and love today. Before going on stage in the mid 60’s, Jimi Hendrix was famously given a right-handed guitar to play on, even though he was a good ‘ol lefty. Instead of complaining, he simply re-strung it upside down, thus creating the iconic and largely re-created style.

This habit of flipping his guitars over and restringing them to accommodate his left-handed playing, resulted in a reversed headstock and bridge pickup. This was the foundation of Hendrix’s uniquely personal sound and technique, such as playing the bass notes of a chord with his thumb.

Okay, enough fan-boying, time to actually talk about this guitar.

The Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster features an Alder body with a Gloss Polyester finish. The body is joined to a 9.5”-radius Maple neck with the same rounded “C” Shape that is found on a multitude of Fender guitars. This is topped with a Maple Fingerboard featuring 21 medium jumbo frets, offering a flatter playing surface which is ideal for chording while allowing you to bend notes further than you’d think is possible.

Imbedded into the Strat shaped body are three unsurpassed American Vintage ’65 single-coil pickups that include a reverse-slant bridge pickup. This helps produce a uniquely inspiring tone with tight, warm sound and enhanced upper harmonics and definition. A 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo sits snuggly at the bridge near to the aged white plastic control knobs.

The large ’70s-style reversed headstock not only looks killer, it also produces a longer string length for the bass strings, creating a tighter playing feel along with easier bending and vibrato on the treble strings. This headstock has been graced with the guitarist’s signature on the rear.

The unique neck plate displays a shoulders-up silhouette of the man himself and the engraved inscription, “Authentic Hendrix,” leaving no doubt as to the inspiration behind this guitar.

The Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster is your chance to unleash your own ‘Little Wings’ of creation and songs that will leave your audience in a ‘Purple Haze’.
