The Gibson 1957 SJ-200 acoustic guitar at a glance:
With the new Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Vintage Sunburst Light Aged, the American traditional manufacturer expands its Custom Shop Historic collection and the largest flat-top Western guitar in the company's history, which is modelled on the original from the 1950s in a detailed construction. Famous for its loud and deep sound, the guitar is still used by numerous artists worldwide for powerful strumming and in singer-songwriter applications. Due to a Murphy-LAB Light-Aged treatment of the wood, the guitar gets a traditional vintage look, while a solid Sitka spruce top and solid flamed maple body create an authentic acoustic sound that takes players back to the good old days. A custom-fit case and Gibson accessory kit are included.

A Sitka spruce top provides clear and powerful trebles
Sitka spruce wood is one of the most popular materials in guitar making due to its fine texture and exceptionally clear sound development, producing very set and clear treble frequencies capable of expressing each note in a very differentiated and clean way. Thanks to a thermo-treatment of the wood, the Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Vintage Sunburst Light Aged gains a very fast response, which is further enhanced by a Scalloped-X bracing and a high-quality nitro finish. Easily recognizable by its lightly flamed and uniform tight grain, the North American spruce wood also leaves a very good visual impression and is an absolute eye-catcher with its vintage sunburst finish with Murphy LAB Light Aged treatment. The large pickguard with floral ornaments and the bridge in elaborate moustache shape with integrated Inlays form another highlight, of the flat-top classic and give the top a noble and timeless look, which makes the instrument so incredibly popular.

Back and sides made of the finest flamed maple.
Due to the huge super-jumbo build, the guitar produces very powerful bass frequencies that colour the overall tone warm and rich, making the instrument perfect for vocal accompaniment and strumming. The body's strikingly grained maple wood imbues the entire sound with a mellow note that very subtly enriches and rounds out the balance of the clear midrange frequencies. Strong flames shimmer lighter or darker through the Vintage-Sunburst-Finish depending on the angle of view, creating even textures in the grain, and giving the instrument a unique appearance. White Multi-Ply-Bindingsclearly delineate the top, back and sides, adding tasteful accents. The opened back of the guitar is separated with a fine backstripe, which clarifies the symmetry of the two back parts and runs straight through to the headstock.

A round maple neck for maximum playing comfort.
Despite a long scale length of 647.7 mm, the Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Vintage Sunburst Light-Aged guitar is very easy and accommodating to play in all 20 frets. The reason for this is a two-piece maple neck with a round profile, which allows a comfortable grip even in the higher frets and allows the player to elicit a clean tone from the instrument with little effort. The noble rosewood fingerboard is decorated with Mother-of-Pearl inlays, which with their fancy crown design bring the value of the material to the fore and prove that the craftsmanship of the manufacturer is not without reason known worldwide. The large headstock features the company logo and a fine inlay, which, in conjunction with the bell-shaped trussrod cover, provide a colourful contrast to the black base. Typical for the old Super Jumbo models, the guitar is equipped with tuning stable Gotoh keystone tuners, which fully embody the spirit of the 1950s.
