The Laney Ironheart Foundry Loudpedal at a glance
The Laney Ironheart Foundry Loudpedal is a true powerhouse for the pedalboard that should by no means be underestimated. The practical pedal with two channels and a 60-watt power amp offers considerable power reserves for sound reinforcement at rehearsals and gigs, but also offers equally useful features that know how to play out their strengths especially when recording a Studio or in the four walls at home. Of course, the Ironheart Foundry remains sonically true to the famous Ironheart line and offers a versatile sound that ranges from transparent cleans to characterful crunch to juicy distortion sounds of rock and metal.
Two channels with gain character switch and Tone switch.
The two channels of the Laney Ironheart Foundry loud pedal form the heart of the versatile Laney sound. Channel 1 has three switchable gain characters: Clean convinces with the lowest degree of compression and open Soft clipping, while Rhythm creates asymmetrical drive character. Aggressive Distortion with symmetrical clipping for tight riffs is ultimately the metier of the Lead setting. If you still need more gain, you can confidently fall back on Channel 2. This unleashes all the distortion reserves of the pedal and relies on a tone switch that optionally emphasizes the high or low frequencies.
3-Band EQ & Boost
To further customize the sound character, an additional equalizer with three frequency bands is on board. This allows global adjustments for bass, mids, and trebles on both channels, creating everything from warm, vocal sounds to metal's coveted 'bathtub' of reduced mids. Also useful is the blazing red boost control. This provides a switchable and continuously adjustable pre-gain and acts like an overdrive pedal in front of the amp, which blows the respective selected channel with additional signal strength. Especially 7- and 8-strings benefit from the additional clarity in the lower registers.
DI Out with Speaker Emulation
On the back, all possible connections are available, which integrates the Laney Ironheart Foundry Loudpedal into all possible environments without any problems. For silent bedroom sessions, a headphone jack and Aux In are available, while recordings are made via the DI Out in XLR format with additionalswitchable speaker emulation in professional quality. For those who want to feel the full power of classic speaker cabinets, the Ironheart Foundry can also be used with classic passive cabinets with 8 Ohm impedance. Last but not least, the sophisticated pedal allows an effect loop isolated from the output transformer, which is optionally available for external effect devices or as a separate output for additional amplifiers, so that the Ironheart Foundry can also be used as a classic distortion pedal.
I’ve connect it directly to the Laney IRT 212 cabinet and I was amazed with the rich sound and versatile possibilities, from Clean to Rock, from Heavy Metal to Thrash Metal, and finally to Death Metal. It’s great choice for guitar players if they want a great tone and flexibility.
