Roland’s Boutique VP-03 Vocoder is a reproduction of one of the most popular vocoders in history, the VP-330 Vocoder Plus. In addition to the authentic aural and aesthetic form of the Boutique VP-03, this vocoder offers a USB port for MIDI and audio, 16 chord memory setups and a voice step sequencer. The original Roland VP-330 coined the sound of electronic music with its distinctive sounds: robot-like surreal voices and expressive chorus synthesizer leads - all still present in the new Roland Boutique VT-03 vocoder.
The string synthesis and interconnection of the Roland Boutique VP-03 Vocoder is based on the original structure of the VP-330 Plus Vocoder. The included microphone allows for an uncomplicated connection and instant fun with the vocoder. In order to be able to play the vocoder meaningfully, an external MIDI note signal is required, or a connection with the K-25m keyboard frame (not included). Internally 16 user chords can be stored, which can be used to play complex chords with one finger.
In addition to the functions of the VP-330, the VP-03 incorporates a new Voice Step Sequencer, which enables the 16 available steps with single notes, chords or voices. Up to 6 notes can be controlled per step. This results in rhythmic grooves, which give the VP-03 an undreamed-of dynamism. With numerous functions, the step sequence can be changed within the sequence, resulting in unpredictable and inspiring results. Thanks to the integrated backup/restore function, sequences can be easily transferred to a computer via the USB output.
