The MFB14S-10N Brass Hoop 14" is a high quality ten holebrasshoop for the snare side. Due to the high quality brass, the Tama hoop produces a balanced and warm snare sound.
This is a 2.3mm triple-flanged hoop made of brass, rather than steel (which is the standard material). I replaced 1.6mm steel hoops on an expensive snare drum with a brass pair. The brass hoops produce a more solid sound for normal strokes, and much more musical rim shots and rim clicks. When detached from the drum and suspended by one finger, a steel hoop produces a clang when struck with a stick, whereas a brass hoop rings like a bell. Note also that a magnet will stick to steel, but not brass. This is an expensive upgrade, and it will not rescue an otherwise weak-sounding drum. However, for a quality item that is well tuned it adds a classy finishing touch.
