Last but not least, the detailed ageing promises the look and feel of an electric guitar that has been played for decades.
The Fender Limited Edition '50s Pine Esquire Super Heavy Relic is a subtly modernized reissue of Fender's first mass-produced electric guitar.
The pine body of the '50s Pine Esquire is bolted to the rift-sawn maple neck.
Traditional woods, modern playing comfort
The basis for the Limited Edition '50s Pine Esquire is, as the name already suggests, a body made of pine wood, which was used by Leo Fender for his electric guitars at the beginning of the Fifties. In combination with the bolt-on neck made of particularly stable rift-sawn maple, the guitar accordingly has a crisp and fast-responding base sound. A strong 1950 Blackguard neck profile and the Vintage Compound radius that increases from 7.25" to 9.5" also promise comfortable playing characteristics.
A hand-wound Blackguard single-coil and the full-throttle Esquire circuit promise versatile guitar tones.
Blackguard single-coil with full-throttle circuitry
For the pickup of the Fender '50s Pine Esquire Super Heavy Relic, the luthiers of the Fender Custom Shop chose a hand-wound '50-'51 Blackguard single-coil, which in bridge position provides a rich twang sound with accentuated trebles and crisp attack. The sound is controlled by the passive Full-Throttle-Esquire switch. While switch position 3 and switch position 2 combine the pickup either with the volume and tone controls or only the volume control, switch position 3 connects the pickup directly to the output jack, so that the electric guitar comes up with a surprisingly versatile sound spectrum.
The headstock of the '50s Pine Esquire bears the limited-edition decal and vintage-style tuners.
Vintage Style Hardware
Naturally authentic and reliable vintage-style hardware completes the Limited Edition '50s Pine Esquire Super Heavy Relic Aged White Blonde from the Fender Custom Shop. The bridge is the authentic Esquire bridge assembly with three double stringers for intonation and action adjustment. The string guide through the body also supports the extremely tight sound of the guitar. Behind the bone nut, Fender Vintage-style tuners ensure stable and precise tuning of the electric guitar.
