The Friedman IR-X at a glance:
The Friedman IR-X skillfully combines the sound of classic analog with the practical benefits of the digital world. The guitar pedal is basically built as a traditional tube preamp and produces real tube sounds with a wide range of sound options, but can also be seamlessly integrated into today's recording setups. For this purpose, the Friedman IR-X relies on a particularly practical on-board impulse responses, which make the use of conventional power amps and cabinets possible, but no longer mandatory.
100% analog tube sounds
Basically, the Friedman IR-X consists of two independent channels that are completely dedicated to the coveted Friedman tops and, thanks to their two 12AX7 tubes, know how to cover everything from classic warm blues sounds to roaring Plexi sounds to steaming hot high-gain. In addition toseparate 3-band tone controls and a common boost for both channels, Channel 1 has a 3-way Bright switch for tone shaping, while Channel 2 has an additional Tight switch.
On-Board Impulse Responses & IR-X Software Editor
If you prefer to use the sound of the Friedman IR-X digitally instead of the classic way in combination with a power amp and speaker cabinet, you can use the12 impulse responses pre-installed on the pedal. These include images of Dave Friedman's favorite cab, a Friedman 4x12 cabinet with V30 speakers, and many more. The IR-X Software Editor lets you manage the Impulse-Responses on the Friedman IR-X's internal memory and even swap them out for other third-party IRs.
Armed with an effects loop, balanced jack output, headphone jack, USB and MIDI, the IR-X can be easily used with classic amps as well as in modern studio environments.
Effect loop, MIDI and much more
On the back of the Friedman IR-X are all the connection options that certify the sophisticated pedal versatile compatibility with a wide variety of setups and applications. For the use of external effects devices, a foot-switchable effects loopis integrated here, the return output of which can also be used to connect to the output stages of classic guitar amplifiers. Further possibilities for the sonic output of the IR-X represent the additional balanced output and the headphone jack, while the 5-pin MIDI connector allows for switching functions such as the channel selection, boosts and much more.
