The Launchkey Mini Mk3 from Novation is a mobile USB/DAW controller that offers space for an arpeggiator, pads, knobs and chord mode in a compact space. The Novation Launchkey Mini Mk3 with 25 mini-keys has a sturdy construction and is equally suitable for use on stage, on the road in buses and trains, or even playing on the couch. The 16 velocity-sensitive pads are ideal for playing accentuated drums and percussion. The built-in arpeggiator is directly usable via the keyboard with several playback patterns. In addition, a fixed chord function is integrated that allows you to play entire chords with just one finger.
The MIDI output is located on the back next to the sustain pedal input. This allows you to play other instruments that do not have their own keyboard via an adapter. The arpeggiator can also be activated at this output. Thanks to the transport function, global DAW functions such as start/stop and recording can be controlled directly from the Launchkey Mini Mk3.
The package includes a software bundle consisting of Ableton Live Lite, AAS Session, Softube Time and Tone, Spitfire Audio LABS - Expressive Strings, XLN Audio Addictive Keys, Klevgrand Reverb and DAW Cassette.
As I have limited space and am using all digital instruments, I was looking for something that I could easily get to grips with and that wouldnt take up a lot of space. My working environment is snug!
This is perfect, it integrates with all of the software I'm using straight off the bat and is compact enough to not get in the way. There's enough knobs and pads to self assign as required and many of them map up, for example the Reason Kong drum machine maps all its pads directly to the keyboard out of the box.
Overall, great for somebody on a budget and struggling for space. Of course, step up if you have the money or the room to do so. I am sure that the larger Novations are equally as good.
This little midi controller works perfectly. It works with M1 chip computers and Big Sur. It is small enough to be portable. It is great for the price. Doesn't feel cheap but it is quite cheap.
DV247 are in my experience a good company.
After having a remote so for many years it was no longer supported and would not work properly with logic x without manually mapping the controllers. While the keyboard on this isn’t as good it is afar better in i there areas. Being a HUI device it mapped out of the box. The pads are really responsive it’s easy and intuitive to use. The arpeggiator is awesome. I briefly tried with Ableton Live and it is the perfect portable controller for that. If you want a portable usable controller keyboard you should seriously consider this.
Needed a small portable midi controller for my mini Mac, this answers all my needs perfectly with the added bonus that the bundled software is extremely practical, you can be up and running making music straight away with a daw and keyboard. Easily set up - another huge plus for me!
