The PRS McCarty 594 Royal Blue Wrap Burst is Paul Reed Smith's latest addition to the Stevensville, Maryland based Core Models series, a versatile electric guitar infused with the magic of classic vintage instruments. The McCarty 594, created after careful planning, features a scale length of 24,594", striking the golden mean between authentic vintage timbre and comfortable playability, while the classic combination of mahogany body and glued neck promises particularly warm tones. Further highlights are the solid flamed maple top and the PRS 58/15 LT humbuckers with versatile coil-split circuitry.
Like all guitars from the noble Maryland factory, the PRS McCarty 594 impresses with its flawless workmanship and a first-class choice of woods. The most striking feature is undoubtedly the particularly vividly drawn flamed maple top, whose special Royal Blue Wrap Burst finish brings the grain to life. Great care is also taken in the choice of mahogany for the body and the glued neck.
Finding the perfect scale length took a considerable amount of the development time of the PRS McCarty 594. After countless trials and a number of prototypes, the decision was made to use the exact 24.594" or 624.69 mm, which gives the electric guitar its name and strikes the golden mean between authentic vintage sound development and outstanding playability. This is furthermore supported by the "Pattern Vintage" profile of the neck, which nestles comfortably in the hand with its strong curves in "C" shape.
The PRS 58/15 Low Turns humbuckers with low output, whose winding wire is made on an original machine from the 1950s, deliver a particularly warm vintage sound with enormous clarity and mid-range presence, bringing every note to life. Furthermore additional tones can be called up via the push/pull switches in the tone controls, which split the humbuckers into single-coils and thus deliver bell-like clear tonal nuances.
High-quality in-house hardware, whose timeless nickel finish underlines the noble appearance of the electric guitar, completes the Paul Reed Smith McCarty 594 Royal Blue Wrap Burst. The headstock, for instance, features PRS Tweaked Phase III tuners, whose cogwheel and worm are pulled together by an additional screw to ensure a more direct resonance transmission to the instrument. Furthermore the PRS 2-piece-stoptail bridge system on the body, consisting of a tailpiece with strings to be hung from above and an adjustable bridge with brass string saddles, holds the strings in place.
