The MX-1 combines synthesizers, drum machines, loops, DAW tracks and more into a single streamlined mix instrument, combining a mixer, controller, audio interface and effects unit with step sequencer programming. It features six analog inputs and four AIRA Link USB ports. Mixing and effects are implemented intelligently and intuitively. Above all, however, the MX-1 is musical and was created to be played. As with all AIRA instruments, there are no confusing menus or cumbersome functions that make it difficult to use.
There's no question about it: effects play a huge role in creating a unique vibe and defining your sound. The MX-1 integrates effects in a very exciting new way. Not only do they sound great, they can be easily edited and respond with unique rhythmic precision thanks to the MX-1's tempo detection and TR-style step sequencer. In addition to one aux send each, which can be used to control external effects, each channel has its own beat FX including filter, side chain and slicer. These can be used via the16 step sequencer buttons in TR style, as found on the famous Roland drum machines. This allows each channel to be independently filtered, ducked and sliced, as well as creating cool rhythm variations, polyrhythms and all kinds of intricate grooves. Beat FX, visually supported by specially illuminated buttons, can be turned on and off channel by channel at any time.Six different master FX types, each with countless variation possibilities, bring the musical spice to either one or all channels at once. A large control knob guarantees excellent operability. The Master FX can even be controlled via the Step Sequencer in a variety of combinations to create stunning effects that you simply have to hear.
With six analog inputs, four AIRA Link USB ports, digital I/O, send and return connections, and the ability to stream 18 channels to and from your DAW, the MX-1 can combine a wide range of music sources and make them controllable at the touch of a button. But it's no ordinary mixer. The smooth, solid faders each have six different volume curves. Each channel has an adjustable tone/filter control with ten different filter types, EQs and isolators. The mute buttons are located for quick operation. The LED-lit faders clearly indicate their current status, even in dark environments. Cue monitoring via DJ-style headphones allows any source to be seamlessly mixed in at any time. Likewise, tracks can be interspersed at exactly the right beat. With separate controls for headphone and master volume, as well as a continuously variable, intelligent level display, you always have everything under control. All settings, including FX configurations, can be saved and recalled.
Playing with the Roland MX-1 is so much fun that you just want to connect everything. Four individual jack inputs are available for connecting every instrument imaginable. The mini-jack input is ideal for smartphones, tablets, and many other gadgets. In addition, the MX-1 has four AIRA Link USB ports that allow you to plug and play AIRA instruments. Audio, MIDI and sync are transferred via a USB cable with fully automatic detection. One of the ports provides a bus power supply for compatible AIRA instruments such as the TB-3 Touch Bassline or the VT-3 Voice Transformer. AIRA Link eliminates cable clutter and makes setup straightforward and fast. All features can be controlled by the illuminated TR-style start/stop buttons. The large tempo knob offers fine tuning, shuffle control and tap function.
Absolutely great unit for combining external instruments effortlessly on the go. So easy to use with aira gear...great for live jamming DAWless and integrates well with ableton too.
