Beyerdynamic's TESLA technology stands for a perfectly balanced sound profile, combining high efficiency with distortion-free reproduction, resulting in headphones with outstanding openness and transparency in the sound image. The signal location as well as the depth graduation are without doubt excellent, especially the precise reproduction of the bass range supports the outstanding spatial sound impression. The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO also benefits from the open construction, but due to the chosen design it also requires a little more power than its higher level brother DT 1770 PRO.
As with the DT 1770 PRO, the choice of materials and the quality of workmanship of the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO are of the very highest standard. High-tech materials ensure perfect, fatigue-free wearing comfort. The scope of delivery also includes various ear cushions, which also influence the sound reproduction in detail between analytical or slightly warmer tuning, as well as various detachable connection cables in a smooth feed and a spiral cable version. I'm using these with a Topping DX7 Pro Amp/DAC, they work really well together. On low gain you'd blow your ears out if you ran it on max, even being 250ohms, they are very sensitive so easish to drive.
Sound quality is amazing detailed across the full range of frequencies. I'd say they are on the technical side, music sounds amazing, they are not fatiguing, at least not for me.
I also use them for a bit of gaming which works extremely well, I can hear loads of detail, even the softest of sounds to give me the edge.
Build quality it top notch, you won't stress if you accidentally drop them.

I've been using the DT990s for mixing for a long time, and thought I'd take a punt on an "upgrade" as I use them 5 days a week.
Sound: great stereo soundscape, gives a pleasing listen experience. They sound slightly smoother than the 990s, which I assume might be due to the extended low end. As someone who mixes music, they felt close to the 990s, so there wasn't a huge learning curve.
The build quality is superb and the are a great fit. My only comment is that the 990s felt slightly more comfortable , although this could be down to the fact I wore them in over many years. They're not as uncomfortable as many other brands I've tried.
Build quality is excellent, handmade in Germany no complain at all. Sound is very nice in the low end, mids, only bit harsh on high end range. After a couple of session with it I get used to it and since them I love it, finally translate the mix well between headphone and my speakers. Very detailed soundstage you can hear almost everything whats happening on the mix.
Only one minor thing but it just personal taste I preferred the leather fabric on the earpads with on my previous headphone , on the DT1990 is nice as well but in a long session it can be warm feeling to wear on your ears.
These are by far the best headphones I have ever used . I was stuck between the dt 990 and these and I'm so glad I went for these. I'd you buy these you will not be unhappy.

About the dt1990 : i will be comparing them to my old dt77080ohm . In short , both pairs have much in common specially the beyerdynamic sound . The dt1990 is the next step with better clarity/resolution and more engaging sound . I highly recommend them
