4ms Catalyst Sequencer with eight channels
The Catalyst Sequencer from 4ms is a new sequencer concept with the option of gliding through the sequence via CV and Crossfader. The module generates either CVs or gates on eight channels which, when combined, form a pattern. The steps of a sequence can be sequenced as usual with a clock or by using the crossfader respectively an applied control voltage (phase). The phase scrub/Phase CV In has no influence on the pitch or set gates, only the steps of a sequence are jumped to. Depending on the control voltage applied here, the sequence plays forwards (ramp up), backward (saw/ramp down), oscillates (triangle) or jumps back and forth (S&H/complex envelope). Experimentation is the order of the day here. Each track has a length of 1-64 steps, can run forwards, backward, Ping-Pong or randomly and has a voltage range of -5V to +10V. The generated voltages can be unquantized or quantized on one of the common scales. Transposing is possible on a channel-by-channel or global basis, and the same applies to the randomizer. Thanks to the copy/paste function, you can quickly create variations of an existing sequence or transfer them to a new pattern. The Catalyst Sequencer can be transformed into a Catalyst Controller! You can switch between sequencer and controller mode with a special button combination, and the front panel is printed on both sides, so you not only have the functions of the other module to hand, but also the correct labels after changing the front panel.
