The BAE Audio 1028 is a high-quality preamp with EQ section, modeled after the legendary Neve 1084. Equipped with the same preamp circuitry as the Neve 1073 and the same high-cut filter as the 1084, the 1028 is the ultimate preamp replica for sound fetishists.
Each unit is hand-wired and uses the original Carnhill transformers, which are also responsible for the distinctive sound of the original. For even greater flexibility, the EQ section on the 1028 has also been expanded in the mid and treble bands. The shelf bands now overlap with the mid bark EQ, creating a wide variety of sound shaping possibilities and diverse filter curves.
To meet various studio requirements, phase rotation and 48V phantom power are also switchable. In addition, the front-panel jack line input can be switched to Hi-Z mode to record various instruments directly at the preamp. To accommodate different types of microphones, the input impedance can be switched from 1200 ohms to 300 ohms, which in most cases results in a center-heavy recording sound.
