The Bit Commander V2 from Earthquaker Devices is an analogue monophonic synth-style effect that layers four octaves of square wave tones to create think distorted signals. Traditionally analogue octave effects struggle to accurately track lower register notes, and the Bit Commander is no exception. For greatest results play above the 7th fret on every string and use the neck pickup of your guitar. Notes below this threshold will track, but are prone to stutters and other curious audio fragments which may or not may not be desirable, depending on the musician!
The top of the pedal holds six parameters used to affect the audio signal. Use Sub, Down 1 and Up 1 to set the levels of the corresponding octaves, turning clockwise to increase. The Base knob dictates the level of the squared input signal. The Filter pot is a tone control, emphasising warmth anti-clockwise and brightness clockwise and you can set the output volume using the Level control.
