The Eventide Omnipressor 2830Au is a device for dynamic processing of audio signals with unique features. These include"Dynamic Reversal", which reverses the levels: A signal with -10dB becomes a signal with +10dB and vice versa. This allows effects such as"talking backwards" with voice signals or reversing the attack/decay envelopes of instruments to be realized. The Omnipressor 2830Au also offers an"Infinite Compression" function, which means that the output level remains unchanged regardless of the input level. The bypass function, which can be selected via the "Line" switch, also makes A/B comparisons possible.
In addition to these features, the classic compressor functions are of course also available. The"Function" knob can be used to continuously adjust the working mode (ratio) of the device. The "Atten Limit" and "Gain Limit" controls are also located in this section. "Atten Limit" determines the maximum attenuation (1 - 30dB) of the Omnipressor, while"Gain Limit" limits the maximum amplification of the device (1 - 30dB). The knobs for"Threshold","Attack Time" and"Release Time" are also located on the left-hand side of the Omnipressor, with whose settings the compressor then works. If it is desired to attenuate bass signals or that these only have a minor influence on the compression/expansion, this can be done with the associated"Bass Cut" switch. In addition, an LED has been built into this switch so that it is immediately visible when the bass cut function is switched on. The Omnipressor also has a side chain function that can be used to integrate additional effect devices into the signal path. An LED has also been installed here, which lights up when the side chain is active. Finally, the Eventide Omnipressor 2830Au offers the option of connecting two (or more) devices with each other using the link function, for example to work in stereo mode.
