These strings have the right selection of gauges for each strings to obtain a more powerful sound and at the same time keeping the strings bendy and bright. My Yamaha Pacifica has upgraded pickups with higher output. Yamaha Pacifica comes with 09-42 strings as default, they make for very easy playing although a bit weak on sound power. With the Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodo Child you get more power and still playability even though the strings gauge is a bit higher, they are so well selected that still you can bend them with easy in you riffs.

These string sizes were chosen by Mr Kramer Jimi's engineer at electric ladyland studios and if you square root each string gauge you can see how much closer the cross sectional area of each string is in comparison to a standard 10-52 set,- really does sort out the issue on vintage staggered polepiece type pickups of the G string sounding to load.

Love em, they really do give my strat a more hendrix tone.. The bass strings ring out more making it sound right.
