For a long time there was a gap in the CC series. CC#5, it quickly turned out, was to be the replica of the esteemed "Donna", who, as we know, has a special "wavy" flametop.
Gibson Custom, especially Edwin Wilson and Tom Murphy, always take a very close look when choosing the woods, so that so far very little maple has qualified for the top of "Donna".
Tom Wittrock, long-time owner of the highly acclaimed'59 Burst serial number 9 1923, commented on his last visit to Music Store Custom Guitars that he was impressed with Gibson's meticulousness.
Apart from the specially selected woods, the CC#5 is made according to True Historic Specs. Especially the complete processing with "Hide Glue", as well as the "wet sanded" finish gives the guitar a very concrete, open response and a convincing authentic feeling.
Further details such as the more authentic pickup frames and pickguard, historically correct pickup covers and equally correct, thinner "Peghead Veneer" round off the external appearance.
