The TC Electronic Thrust BQ250 combines enormous power reserves and extremely useful features in an ultra-compact and easily portable cabinet format. This 250W class-D amplifier head weighs just over 2kg and can be used with any existing bass speaker with at least 4 Ohm impedance thanks to the Speaker Twist connection. In addition the Thrust BQ250 features a switchable compressor, 4-band equalizer with 2x mid frequencies and multiple connections for headphones, auxiliary equipment and a balanced XLR output.
Thrust Comp In addition to the ability to adjust the input section to active and passive pick-ups via a switch, the BQ250's switchable Thrust Compressor offers additional possibilities to optimize the dynamics and response of the incoming signal. When activated, the single knob compressor polishes the dynamic range of the bass signal to add punch and warmth to the sound.
Aux In & Balanced Out The Thrust BQ250 is ideal for both rehearsals and professional recording sessions, as demonstrated by its extensive rear panel connectivity. For rehearsals and jams, backing tracks and songs can easily be played back via the Aux input, while the symmetrical DI-out in XLR format delivers crystal-clear sounds for professional recording tracks or easily passes them on to the FoH console.
The main features of the TC Electronic Thrust BQ250 include:
250W Class-D Bass Amplifier
Compact & Lightweight Design
4-Band Equalizer
Active/Passive Switch (Level Compensation for Active/Passive Pick-Ups)
Purchased this after doing my usual research and unable to make my mind up, I chose this mainly because of the price and reviews, the BQ500 has more power but it's identical. I haven't played bass in a long time but decided to start from scratch I've got a 15w practise amp but with this unit I can get so many different tones it's amazing. I use bass guitars in passive mode so the tone controls don't work in that mode but it's more easier to send direct to this bass head. Gain is good and the thrust tends to kick in if your input is high basically it's a compressor. Not plugged into a bass cab as I use good quality headphones. The AUX input allows one to practise to music very handy if you plan to practise all hours of the morning. All-In-All well worth the money I'd recommend it no fancy bells and/or whistles but works good A+++
I build Bass cabs for bass players who do not drive,so ive been on the look out for an amp that's light small and easy to use,i've looked at many amps and i'm very happy with BQ 250,so far ive used it on my double tens and also on my double 8s and it does the job very well,i will be asking TC if i can buy at least another 6 amps at a better price In general this is the amp ive been searching for and im glad i have now bought one as it works very well with the cabs i build..
Tiny 250w amp, compressor is a good feature and is the only thing other than a straight up the middle bass amp. Great portability, kiss the monster bass rig good bye.
Can't wait to see what the band think.
